![]() ![]() Thank you for the specific cost and location of toll's, Citylights. I can see us arriving after 7pm? would that be better then? (as we could stop for a longer lunch in or outside of Minneapolis) don't see how we could make it by 3pm, pgo. Its a good 9 hrs -closer to 10 hr- drive from Fargo to Chicago. We'll stay on the interstate then, good advice! Thank you for the reminder about watching where we go shallow_shoals. Just don't want to be sent a ticket for 50$ or whatever if we miss paying a toll or two. Still no need of an I-Pass though? I would think we'd be by passing the cities on the way home but there still may be tolls? We are all for moving faster even at a cost. We will pass through Toledo then, and stop for the night to see a concert at the zoo and then straight on to Winnipeg, Canada from there the next day (oh thats going to be grueling!). We will be driving back through this area again on the way home in August. Just a quick thank you to every single single responder all GREAT advice. Would love some advice and reassurance! Not used to the idea of 'gridlock' and have no desire to experience it. Traffic is made to sound like it could be a nightmare- do we want to leave before rush hour begins at some ungodly hour of the morning? or will rush hour not affect us on these highways at 7:30am? Can't escape it on the way into town I am sure as we'll arrive around 6:30. ![]() Will we have to exit off to pay toll and enter on again? That sounds slow and annoying, but perhaps its quick and well marked. Then when we leave, we may take the Lake shore road out initially -as it looks pretty(?) and connect to the I-90 again- which becomes (?) a toll road? The Chicago skyway toll road or the Indiana toll road. If you have a suggested way to enter and exit the city, that would be helpful too! (pretend your talking to an idiot here because I have tried reading up a little info, and I just get confused, sometimes there are abreviations used and I am clueless as to what they stand for) At the moment it looks as though we'll be on the I-90/Kennedy expressway and turning off at Ohio st. Would anyone be able to say if an I-Pass would be helpful for such a trip? Do we need exact cash at all times? How do these toll roads work? Google maps has included a number of 'toll roads' along our journey. We have little experience driving in the United States -ie. Then leaving a few days later heading west/north towards London, Ontario, Canada. We will be coming from Fargo (originating in Canada) heading into Chicago straight to our hotel downtown to park. We are planning a road trip, and are stopping in Chicago for a couple of days. ![]()
